Cases:

Prosecuted a murder where the defendant beat up his mentally incapacitated friend to death with bare hands and feet.  The defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment: HCCC 194/2012 

HKSAR v Mok Kwok Wai, Ericis

Prosecuted a rape where the defendant raped the complainant when she wanted to put their secret relationship to an end.  The defendant was sentenced to 8 years’ imprisonment: HCCC 229/2013 

HKSAR v Chan Chun Sing

(led by Ms Diane Crebbin)

Defended a murder.  The defendant tragically killed and dismembered her 12-year-old daughter.  The prosecution accepted the defendant’s plea bargain to manslaughter on the basis of diminished responsibility: HCCC 297 & 298/2019

HKSAR v Cao Yan

(led by Mr Andrew Raffell)

Successfully appealed against a conviction for committing an act outraging public decency.  New legislation introduced on upskirting offence: HCMA 49/2018

HKSAR v San Juan, Nelson Oro

Arbitration: represented a contractor in a dispute regarding the construction of a building for an organ of the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China (led by Mr Philip Boulding QC)

Advised a major party to the Commission of Inquiry into the Construction Works at and near the Hung Hom Station Extension under the Shatin to Central Link Project (SCL Contract 1112)

Successfully resisted an appeal at the Court of Appeal to seek interim maintenance from an estate:   ACLS v HSB(T)L   [2013] 2 HKLRD 444 (sole counsel)

Obtained an order for sale of a property, establishing the legal principle for a financing institution with an interest in possession in the property to obtain such order under the Partition Ordinance:   Law Chun Wai t/a Fu Tat Finance Co v Chu Suk Har & Anor   [2016] 1 HKLRD 224 (sole counsel)

Wardship proceedings: client successfully retained the child’s sole custody, care and control after a 11-day trial in the High Court.  The matter of parental alienation was discussed:
